The Chapel was an inviting soft lounge environment created to provide an escape from the other more stimulating and energetic areas of a 1,000 person 3 day interactive theater event. A segmented interior space was created using steel pipe framing and white jersey fabric stretched inside of the frame. Four semi-private cubbies were made to give small groups an intimate and comfortable space to retreat to. Each of the cubbies and the central hallway between were lit with diffuse incandescent lights attached to an 8-channel DMX controlled dimmer running a script to slowly move fluid pulses of light through the space in a linear order. The light gently increased and then moved on to the next zone. The front of the Chapel space had a shrine of fresh flowers, mirrors, paper lanterns and a large tray of raked beach sand and stacked river rocks in a zen garden style.
